This image is greatly enhanced by being viewed as a silhouette. The man blowing on the dandelion is shown as a shadow, which hides his overall facial expression, leading to many different interpretations. Although it is a silhouette, the viewer is still easily able to depict what is actually happening; a man is blowing on a dandelion. While the picture may seem plain, its openness to different interpretations as to how the man feels helps it shine. The lighting of the background also helps enhance this photo.

Ansel Adams captures the beauty of nature with this descriptive and flexible picture. This elegant photo incorporates many elements of photography to truly make it shine. The rock serves as the focus point of the picture, capturing the attention of the viewers. The curved line of the tree helps direct this attention towards the shape and structure of the sturdy rock. Contrasts in color, particularly black and white, help the photo pop; the dark shading of the tree contrasts with the sunlight shining on the rock. The texture of the tree and rock are so defined and powerful, allowing the viewers to sense how they would feel. The perspective of seeing the tree and the rock from this angle allows the image of the tree leaning over and gently caressing the rock to completely emphasize itself.
